Every room is different at Smith's - each has its own ambience and character. As you walk in the front door you enter 'the main bar', with bare oak tables, pew style seating and a slate floor keep on walking and you will find yourself in 'the Snug' a cosy room with leather sofas a restored inglenook fireplace and a roaring log burning stove - great for escaping the winter chill. Keep on walking and you will find yourself in 'the gallery' with a table for six tucked away in the corner, looking upwards you will see a bare wood staircase contrasting with dark exposed beams and raw brickwork. Staying on the ground floor you finally reach 'the stable' restaurant where food is served in the evenings.
Heading up the stairs from the old stable at the back of the building is 'the mirror room' which is decorated in a similar vein to the restaurant but is set in the eaves of the roof with exposed beams. Walking across the gallery brings you to 'the jam room' where records show that the Smith family used to prepare their jams for sale. A period fireplace, long and deep built in sofas and comfy stools finish off this funky little room. Finally at the front of the building on the first floor is 'the red room' with deep red leather cubicle style seating and oak tables set by the windows and a bare oak floor.
Rather than reading about the rooms why not take a look at the online tour and get a real feel for this special building. If you are passing and want to see what a design award winning pub looks like then pop in for tea and cake, a light lunch or a beer in the evening.
